#5 - Using Camera Shots - Part 1
Hello!
In this blog, I will be discussing five of the camera shots mentioned in the AICE Media Studies syllabus: the establishing shot, the master shot, the close-up shot, the mid-shot, and the long-shot.
Establishing Shot
A establishing shot is a shot that sets the context for a scene by showing the location or environment.
Master Shot
A master shot is a shot that captures all the subjects in a scene. It also runs for the entirety of the scene, and other types of shots can be woven into the master shot.
Close-Up Shot
A close-up shot is a shot that is taken as close range, and often features the subject filling most of the screen.
Mid-Shot
A mid-shot (also called a medium shot) is a shot that shows both the environment and the characters in a scene. This is a result of shooting the characters from a medium range.
Long-Shot
A long-shot is a shot that captures a subject from top to bottom, and showcases the subject and their environment.
The subjects for most of my pictures were my classmates Nicole, Denn, and Kelis. It was so fun going around our school to take the pictures and figuring out how to position the camera to get the best shot! In the next blog post, I'll be covering some more camera shots.
See you later!
